Vanderbilt vs LSU: Line, Prediction, TV Channel & Live Stream for 2023 SEC Tournament
By Matt Melton
After picking up a win over Georgia on Wednesday night in the 11/14 matchup, LSU is now moving on to face Vanderbilt in the second round of the 2023 SEC Tournament. The Commodores and Tigers recently met back on February 22 in Baton Rouge, a game in which LSU won, 84-77.
Led by the 2022-23 SEC Co-Coach of the Year Jerry Stackhouse, Vanderbilt enters the 2023 SEC Tournament as the conference’s No. 6 seed, owning an 18-13 overall record, as well as an 11-7 mark in SEC play. Having won three-straight, the Commodores are one of the SEC’s hottest teams at the moment, but will likely have to win the SEC Tournament should they have aspirations of making the NCAA Tournament.
The Commodores are currently averaging 72 PPG offensively, while also allowing 71.7 PPG on defense, and have two double-digit scorers in Tyrin Lawrence and Jordan Wright. The duo of Ezra Manjon and Myles Stute are not far behind those two at 9 PPG each, while Trey Thomas, Colin Smith, and Quentin Millora-Brown are also names to know.
As for LSU, the conference’s No. 14 seed picked up a first round win Wednesday night in Nashville, defeating Georgia by a final score of 72-69. With the win, LSU’s overall record this season is now at 14-18 for the year.
The Tigers are currently averaging 67.5 PPG offensively, while also allowing 70.6 PPG, and are led by two double-digit scorers in KJ Williams and Adam Miller. Both Derek Fountain and Cam Hayes are also prominent scorers for LSU, while Trae Hannibal and Justice Hill also play key roles in the Tigers backcourt.
Vanderbilt vs LSU 2023 SEC Tournament Prediction
Even without having the 2022-23 SEC Defensive Player of the Year Liam Robbins available due to injury, the pick here still goes to Vanderbilt. The Commodores, who should have the homecourt advantage in Nashville, are one of the hottest teams in the conference at the moment, and I’ll say that Vanderbilt avenges their prior loss to the Tigers to move on to Friday for a showdown with No. 3 seed Kentucky. Prediction: Vanderbilt 74, LSU 68
