The semifinal round of the 2023 SEC Tournament officially begins Saturday afternoon with a matchup between two of the conference’s top offensive teams – Alabama and Missouri. The Crimson Tide and Tigers met only once during the regular season back on January 21 in Columbia, a game in which Alabama won, 85-64.

The No. 1 overall seed in the 2023 SEC Tournament, Alabama opened play in Nashville on Friday with a dominant win over No. 9 seed Mississippi State, defeating the Bulldogs by a final score of 72-49. With the win, the Crimson Tide kept their chances for the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament alive, with Alabama’s record now sitting at 27-5 overall this season.

Alabama currently ranks as the nation’s No. 5 scoring team at 82.8 PPG, while also allowing 69.5 PPG, as well as leading all of college basketball with 44.3 RPG, along with 31.7 DRPG. Alabama is also a Top 10 team nationally in free throws per game, and has a deep roster headlined by names such as SEC Player and Freshman of the Year Brandon Miller, Mark Sears, Noah Clowney, Charles Bediako, SEC Co-Sixth Man of the Year Jahvon Quinerly, and more.

As for Missouri, the Tigers are the No. 4 seed in the 2023 SEC Tournament, and opened play Friday with an impressive win over Tennessee, 79-71. With the win, Missouri’s overall record this season improved to 24-8.

The Tigers are currently averaging 80.1 PPG offensively, while also allowing 74.8 PPG to opponents, and are led by the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Kobe Brown at 15.9 PPG and 6.2 RPG. Missouri is also the nation’s No. 3 team in steals averaging 10.5 per game, and have many others who all make key impacts such as D’Moi Hodge, DeAndre Gholston, Noah Carter, Nick Honor, Sean East, and more.

While the Crimson Tide did win the previous matchup between the two by 21 points, this game should be closer between Alabama and Missouri.
