As we get set to begin SEC baseball conference play later this week, let’s update our 2023 power rankings for the first time this season, as well as take a look at all 14 team’s overall starts to the year.

Arkansas, South Carolina rise in latest 2023 SEC Baseball power rankings

14. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Previous Ranking: 12

We begin our first update of the season here at No. 14 with Mississippi State, as the Bulldogs drop two spots from their preseason ranking of No. 12, now owning an 11-5 overall record this season. Even despite being tied for the highest loss total of any SEC baseball team at the moment, the Bulldogs have still impressed at times this season via weekend series’ wins over the likes of Arizona State, Lipscomb, and VMI, as well as additional victories over Southern Miss and California.

The Bulldogs will now host a pair of non-conference opponents in the midweek with Nicholls and Louisiana prior to opening SEC play this weekend. That conference opener will come on the road in Lexington against Kentucky.

13. Missouri Tigers

Previous Ranking: 14

The first team to rise in our latest update is Missouri, as the Tigers jump a spot to No. 13 coming off their 12-3 overall start to the season. Included in that start were two noteworthy wins over both Texas and TCU to begin the year, while the Tigers have also added series’ wins since such as at FIU, along with at home over Texas Southern and NJIT.

Missouri is now set to begin SEC baseball play later this week, but not before hosting Lamar on Wednesday night. The Tigers will then remain at home this weekend by hosting defending SEC champion Tennessee to open conference play.
