With conference play having now officially begun for each of the SEC’s 14 teams, let’s update our 2023 SEC baseball power rankings once again, an update that is headlined by a rise from both Vanderbilt and Missouri among others.

Vanderbilt, Missouri rise in latest 2023 SEC Baseball power rankings

14. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Previous Ranking: 14

We begin this week’s update at the No. 14 spot with Mississippi State, as the Bulldogs remain at their previous ranking now sitting at 13-8 overall, as well as 0-3 in the SEC. While the Bulldogs did open the week with a 4-2 home win over Louisiana, it was simply a rough start to SEC baseball play for Mississippi State this past weekend, being swept on the road at Kentucky by final scores of 6-5, 12-3, and 17-3, respectively.

Having now lost three-straight, Mississippi State will return home Tuesday night for a matchup against Arkansas State. The Bulldogs will then host a red-hot Vanderbilt team this weekend in what is a tough conference series.

13. Georgia Bulldogs

Previous Ranking: 12

The first team to drop in this week’s update is Georgia, as the Bulldogs fall a spot to No. 13 now sitting at 13-7 overall, as well as 0-3 in SEC play. Georgia would originally begin this past week with a 10-8 home win over Wofford, but would struggle in their SEC opener against South Carolina in Athens, being swept by final scores of 5-4, 12-2, and 12-1, respectively.

Having now lost three consecutive games, the Bulldogs will now remain at home for a midweek contest Tuesday night against Georgia State. The Bulldogs will then travel for the first time in SEC play this weekend for a series at Auburn.
