SEC fans, here are a few things you need to know from across the conference in recent days, which includes two noteworthy transfer portal entries, Georgia landing another commitment to their top-ranked 2024 class, and more.
South Carolina F Daniel Hankins-Sanford enters transfer portal
A former three-star prospect from the 2022 class, South Carolina forward Daniel Hankins-Sanford has entered the transfer portal. Hankins-Sanford appeared in 22 games for the Gamecocks off the bench this past season as a freshman, averaging 2.3 PPG and 2.2 RPG.
Darius Slayton re-signs with New York Giants
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Darius Slayton is re-signing with the New York Giants. A former 2019 fifth round pick by New York out of Auburn, Slayton appeared in 16 games for the Giants this past season, totaling 46 receptions for 724 yards and two touchdowns.
Florida G Kowacie Reeves enters transfer portal
After two seasons in Gainesville, Florida guard Kowacie Reeves has entered the transfer portal. Reeves, a former highly-rated four-star prospect from the 2021 class, averaged 8.5 PPG and 2.6 RPG for the Gators this past season while starting in 7-of-31 games, and has averaged 7.1 PPG combined across his two seasons at Florida.
4-star ATH Demello Jones commits to Georgia
Georgia landed the 10th commit of their top-ranked 2024 class Friday in Demello Jones. Jones is rated as a four-star athlete out of in-state Swainsboro High School.
4-star DL Tionne Gray commits to Missouri
Missouri landed the highest-rated, as well as fourth total, commitment of their 2024 class Saturday in Tionne Gray. Gray is rated as a four-star defensive lineman out of in-state Hazelwood Central.
3 SEC teams to play in Sweet 16
With the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament having now officially passed, there will be a total of three SEC teams playing in the Sweet 16 later this week – Alabama, Tennessee, and Arkansas. The matchups for each are listed below:
