4. 1994 Arkansas
This mid-90’s Razorback team often gets forgotten during the all-time team discussion. But it certainly won’t go unmentioned in this one.
In 1994, Arkansas went 31-3 with two double-digit winning streaks on the year.
Their only regular season losses came against Alabama and Mississippi State early in the year. And after a disappointing knockout in the SEC Tourney Semi’s, they went on a magical March run.
Led by Naismith Coach of the Year, Nolan Richardson, and 2nd Team All American Corliss Williams (20.4 points per game), the Razorbacks scored 93.4 points per game and tallied the most total points on the season.
Forward Scotty Thurman was more than respectable as the second leading scorer on the team with 15.9 points per game.
As for the rest of the roster?
Arkansas had four other players averaging 8 or more points, as well as two more players averaging 7 or more points.
They were the deepest team in the country and a well oiled machine all year averaging 20.2 assists per game (1st in the nation).
The season following their championship run, they finished 32-7 and if they had finished the job in 1995, perhaps that team would have been higher on this list.
