SEC Baseball: Vanderbilt, Auburn rise in latest 2023 power rankings

Rising a spot up to the No. 2 ranking in our latest update is Vanderbilt, as the Commodores now sit at 23-5 overall, as well as being the last SEC baseball team undefeated in conference play at 9-0. The Commodores simply continued their winning ways this past week on the diamond, beginning with an 11-1 win over Lipscomb on Tuesday, as well as a home sweep over Georgia during the weekend by final scores of 9-2, 16-8, and 4-0.

Currently on an 11-game winning streak, Vanderbilt will begin play this Tuesday night at home against Western Kentucky. The Commodores will then travel to Missouri for three games during the weekend.

Remaining in the No. 1 spot in this week’s update is once again LSU, with the Tigers now sitting at 24-4 overall, as well as 6-3 in the SEC. Beginning this past week with a 17-5 win over Grambling on Tuesday, LSU would then go on to win games one and two against Tennessee, 5-2 and 6-4, respectively, during the weekend, but would see their five-game winning streak snapped with a 14-7 loss in game three.

The Tigers will now remain in Baton Rouge during the midweek for a Tuesday night matchup with Nicholls. LSU will then travel to South Carolina during the weekend for one of SEC baseball’s top series’ of the week.
