The 2022-23 college basketball season has now officially come to a close, which means that the attention now shifts toward what is already shaping up to be an exciting 2023-24 campaign for SEC basketball once again.

Well, let’s build off that excitement, and take a way-too-early look ahead to the 2023-24 season, as well as give our power rankings outlook for next year at the moment. (NOTE: Rosters as of Monday, April 3)

Way-too-early SEC Basketball power rankings for 2023-24 season

We begin here in the No. 14 spot with South Carolina, as the 2023-24 season will mark year two of the Lamont Paris era in Columbia. The Gamecocks will be coming off a 2022-23 season which included an 11-21 overall record, as well as 4-14 mark in SEC play, and will be looking to return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2016-17 season.

As for next season, the Gamecocks will be tasked with replacing star freshman GG Jackson, who is off to the NBA Draft, along with another double-digit scorer in Hayden Brown. South Carolina is however set to return one of their top players from a year ago in guard Meechie Johnson among others, along with adding names such as Minnesota transfer Ta’Lon Cooper and The Citadel transfer Stephen Clark.
