SEC Basketball: Way-too-early power rankings for 2023-24 season
By Matt Melton
The top five in our way-too-early 2023-24 power rankings begins here at No. 5 with Arkansas, as head coach Eric Musselman and the Razorbacks are set to be among SEC basketball’s best once again next season.
Coming off their fourth consecutive 20+ win season, Arkansas held a 22-14 overall record during the 2022-23 campaign, as well as an 8-10 mark in SEC play. The Razorbacks would also make the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season, reaching the Sweet 16 for the third-straight year as well.
A team that is set to lose a key amount of production this offseason, Arkansas’ 2023-24 roster will be headlined by returning forward Trevon Brazile, while a few others could potentially return also. As with last offseason as well, the Razorbacks are likely set to add multiple impact names through the transfer portal.
Similar to last cycle also, the Razorbacks own one of SEC basketball’s top 2023 recruiting classes, comprised of the five-star duo of Baye Fall and Layden Blocker. Both should make a major impact in 2023-24, likely coming in a starting role.
Overall, Arkansas should be among the SEC’s best next season, as well as a contender to make yet another second weekend appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
