3. team. 535. . . . Aggies

Coming off arguably their best season of the Buzz Williams’ era in College Station, Texas A&M sits in the No. 3 spot in our way-too-early SEC basketball power rankings.

As to what that season looked like, the Aggies would finish the year with a 25-10 overall record, as well as a 15-3 mark in SEC play. This was also the Aggies highest conference win total since joining the SEC, as well as Texas A&M’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since the 2017-18 season.

Looking ahead to next year however, the Aggies 2023-24 roster will return one of the top guards in SEC basketball with Wade Taylor IV, who averaged 16.3 PPG to lead Texas A&M. Also returning will be others such as Henry Coleman III, Julius Marble, and Andersson Garcia among others, while senior Tyrece Radford could be a key name to watch for when it comes to an extra year remaining of eligibility.

As for the newcomers, the Aggies currently have only one player in their 2023 recruiting class in guard Bryce Lindsay, who is Texas A&M’s lone incoming freshman or transfer at the moment. That could however change later this offseason, as the Aggies are another team to watch for when it comes to the transfer portal.

Simply put, the Aggies could very easily be among SEC basketball’s elite next season. Whether or not they contend for the SEC title remains to be seen, but the Aggies should once again be strong in 2023-24.
