SEC News: Alabama coaching change, Tshiebwe declares for NBA Draft

SEC fans, here are a few things you need to know from across the conference Friday, including an Alabama basketball coaching change, an NBA Draft decision from Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe, and more.
Arkansas F Makhel Mitchell enters transfer portal
After transferring from Rhode Island last offseason, Arkansas forward Makhel Mitchell entered the transfer portal Friday after one season in Fayetteville. Mitchell started in 9-of-30 games at Arkansas this past season, averaging 3.6 PPG, 3.2 RPG, and 1.5 BPG, while also shooting 63.5% from the field.
Alabama assistant Antoine Pettway named head coach at Kennesaw State
Announced Friday afternoon, Alabama assistant Antoine Pettway has been named the new head coach at Kennesaw State. Pettway was a long-time assistant on the Crimson Tide’s coaching staff, as well as having played collegiately in Tuscaloosa for four seasons from 2001-04, and becomes the third Alabama assistant to become a head coach this offseason, joining Charlie Henry (Georgia Southern) and Bryan Hodgson (Arkansas State).
Florida G Kowacie Reeves transfers to Georgia Tech
Florida guard Kowacie Reeves officially announced that he would be transferring to Georgia Tech on Friday afternoon. Reeves started in 7-of-31 games for the Gators this past season, averaging 8.5 PPG and 2.6 RPG.
Kentucky F Oscar Tshiebwe declares for 2023 NBA Draft
Kentucky forward Oscar Tshiebwe officially declared for the 2023 NBA Draft on Friday, while also maintaining his collegiately eligibility. Tshiebwe, the 2021-22 SEC and National Player of the Year, is coming off a season in which he averaged 16.5 PPG, 13.7 RPG, and 1.6 SPG to earn honors that included Second Team Consensus All-American.
LSU G Adam Miller enters transfer portal
One of the Tigers top players this past season, LSU guard Adam Miller entered the transfer portal Friday. Miller started in all 33 games for LSU this past season, averaging 11.5 PPG and 2.3 APG, while also shooting 82.9% from the free throw line.
3-star ATH Tevis Metcalf names Top 4 schools
Tevis Metcalf released a list of his top four schools Friday, a group that included Arkansas, Auburn, Colorado, and Georgia Tech. Metcalf is rated as a three-star athlete in the 2024 class out of Parker High School in Alabama.
