SEC Baseball: South Carolina, Georgia rise in latest 2023 power rankings

12. Mississippi State Bulldogs

A total of two teams rose multiple spots in this week’s update, the first of which was Mississippi State up two spots to No. 12, as the Bulldogs now sit at 19-14 overall, as well as 3-9 in the SEC. After beginning the week with a 21-2 home win over Grambling, the Bulldogs would go on to win games one and three at Alabama during the weekend, 12-8 and 8-4, respectively, while also dropping game two, 11-1.

The Bulldogs will now return to action Tuesday night on the road at UAB. Mississippi State will then return home this weekend for the aforementioned series against in-state rival Ole Miss.

11. Georgia Bulldogs

The second of those two teams is Georgia, as the Bulldogs jump two spots to No. 11, now sitting at 18-14 overall, as well as 3-9 in SEC play. Beginning the week with a 6-4 road win at Kennesaw State, the Bulldogs would however drop game one at home to Kentucky, 7-4, but would go on to defeat the Wildcats in games two and three by final scores of 3-0 and 6-2, respectively.

Georgia will now open this week Tuesday night with an intriguing non-conference matchup at home against Clemson. The Bulldogs will then travel to Gainesville this weekend for three games at Florida.
