4. South Carolina Gamecocks
Previous Ranking: 5
Rising a spot this week up to No. 4 is South Carolina, as the Gamecocks now sit at 28-4 overall for the season, as well as 9-2 in SEC play. The Gamecocks originally began this past week with a 5-0 win over North Carolina on Tuesday night, and would go on to win game one Thursday against LSU by a final score of 13-5 prior to dropping game two, 8-7, with game three later postponed due to weather.
South Carolina will now return to action this Tuesday night at home for an in-state matchup with SC Upstate. The Gamecocks will then travel this weekend to Nashville for one of SEC baseball’s top series’ against Vanderbilt.
3. Florida Gators
Previous Ranking: 3
Despite remaining at the No. 3 spot, you could make an argument that few SEC baseball teams had as impressive a week as Florida, who now sits at 27-6 overall, as well as 9-3 in conference play. Beginning the week with an 8-4 home win over Bethune, the Gators would then go on the road to win games one and two at Tennessee, 6-1 and 9-3, respectively, as well as drop game three by a final score of 14-2.
The Gators now enter what one could call a “rivalry week” on the diamond, beginning Tuesday night against in-state foe, Florida State. Florida will then remain at home during the weekend for a series against Georgia.
