SEC Baseball: South Carolina, Georgia rise in latest 2023 power rankings

2. Vanderbilt Commodores

Remaining in the No. 2 spot in our latest update is Vanderbilt, as the Commodores now sit at 26-6 overall, as well as 11-1 in SEC play. After beginning this past week with an 8-1 win over Western Kentucky on Tuesday, the Commodores would go on to defeat Missouri in games one and three on the road over the weekend, 7-6 and 5-0, respectively, but would drop game two by a final score of 5-4.
The Commodores will now return home to Nashville this week, with play beginning Tuesday night against North Alabama. Vanderbilt will then host South Carolina this weekend in one of the SEC’s more intriguing series’ this week.
1. LSU Tigers

Remaining in the top spot by a slim margin in this week’s update is LSU, as the Tigers now sit at 26-5 overall for the year, as well as 7-4 in SEC play. Beginning this past week with a 12-2 home win over Nicholls, the Tigers would go on to drop game one at South Carolina on Thursday by a final score of 13-5, but would bounce back Friday with an 8-7 win in game two, with game three having also been postponed due to weather.
LSU will now return to action Tuesday night with an in-state matchup at home against Tulane. The Tigers will also remain at home during the weekend for an SEC baseball series against Kentucky.
