SEC Baseball: Arkansas, Mississippi State rise in latest 2023 power rankings

8. Tennessee Volunteers

Dropping two spots in this week’s update to No. 8 is Tennessee, with the Volunteers now sitting at 23-13 overall, as well as 5-10 in SEC play. Tennessee would originally begin the week with a 14-2 home win over Eastern Kentucky, but would go on to be swept at Arkansas during the weekend, falling by final scores of 5-2, 6-3, and 7-2.
Tennessee will now return home Tuesday night for a matchup against in-state foe Tennessee Tech. The Volunteers will then host yet another in-state opponent in SEC baseball action this weekend in Vanderbilt.
7. Kentucky Wildcats

Rising a spot to No. 7 this week is Kentucky, with the Wildcats now sitting at 28-7 overall, as well as 10-5 in SEC play. After their midweek contest at Louisville was postponed Tuesday, Kentucky would go on to drop games one and three at LSU during the weekend, 16-6 and 7-6, respectively, but would win game two by a final score of 13-10.
The Wildcats will now return home for their next midweek matchup, which comes Tuesday night against Xavier. Kentucky will then host Texas A&M for three games this weekend.
