2. South Carolina Gamecocks

Previous Ranking: 5

One of SEC baseball’s biggest risers of the week was South Carolina, as the Gamecocks jump three spots up to No. 2, now sitting at 34-6 overall for the year, as well as 13-4 in conference play. After beginning the week with a 10-4 home win over Charleston Southern on Tuesday, the Gamecocks would go on to post one of the most impressive weekend’s of any SEC team, sweeping Florida at home by final scores of 13-3, 5-2, and 7-5.

Having now won four-straight, South Carolina will return to action this weekend at home for three games against Auburn.

1. LSU Tigers

Previous Ranking: 1

Once again remaining in the No. 1 spot this week by a slim margin is LSU, as the Tigers now sit at 32-7 overall, as well as 12-5 in SEC play. After a rough start to the week by falling to Louisiana on Tuesday at home, 8-5, the Tigers would bounce back in a big way during the weekend, sweeping Ole Miss in Oxford by final scores of 7-3, 8-4, and 7-6.

LSU will now remain at home this week, beginning with a matchup Tuesday night against Nicholls, an opponent whom the Tigers previously defeated 12-2 back on April 4. The Tigers will then host Alabama for three games this weekend.
