SEC Football: Arkansas, Tennessee among April recruiting winners
By Matt Melton
Alabama Crimson Tide
April Commits:
- 4-star IOL Mason Short
- 4-star LB Cayden Jones
- 4-star OT Dontrell Glover
- 4-star WR Rico Scott
As for the other notable recruiting winners during April, Alabama likely leads that group by landing four four-star prospects, two of which came in the Crimson Tide’s 2024 class in linebacker Cayden Jones and wide receiver Rico Scott. Alabama also landed a pair of offensive linemen to their 2025 class in Mason Short and Dontrell Glover, both of which come from the state of Georgia at Evans and Langston Hughes, respectively.
South Carolina Gamecocks
April Commits:
- 4-star OT Josiah Thompson
- 4-star S Kelvin Hunter
- 4-star CB Braydon Lee
- 3-star OT Mike Williams
South Carolina was also a noteworthy recruiting winner during April, landing four total commits as well, arguably the biggest of which was four-star offensive tackle Josiah Thompson out of in-state Dillon High School. With all four commitments coming from their 2024 class, the Gamecocks also added two four-star’s to the secondary in safety Kelvin Hunter and cornerback Braydon Lee, as well as a three-star offensive tackle in Mike Williams.
Florida Gators
April Commits:
- 4-star S Xavier Filsaime
- 4-star QB Austin Simmons
- 4-star RB Kahnen Daniels
We conclude here with Florida, as the Gators landed three commitments during April, the biggest of which was from four-star Xavier Filsaime, one of the top safeties in the 2024 class, who could also end up being a five-star by the time he steps foot on campus. The Gators also added another running back in the 2024 cycle in four-star Kahnen Daniels, as well as the first commit of their 2025 class in Austin Simmons, a four-star quarterback out of in-state Moore Haven High School.
