Media rights, or grant of rights, are all the buzz surrounding the ACC and College Football. Seven teams have been meeting for the past several months to discuss their options towards leaving the ACC or at least generating more revenue for themselves based off of “success initiatives,” as stated by Florida State Athletic Director per Ross Dellenger.

With that being said, let’s take a look at which of the ACC teams would make the best fit in the SEC if they can not come to an agreement and separation becomes inevitable.

Four ACC teams that could be poached by the SEC

Clemson Tigers

Clemson is the first obvious choice. With recent National Championship wins and top level recruiting, the Tigers would slot in very well. Not to mention their coaching staff would immediately be considered as being one of the top five in the SEC.

Florida State Seminoles

Another team that would be easy to see being invited would be the Florida State Seminoles. Their last title dates back to the Jameis Winston and Jimbo Fisher days in 2013, although they did make an appearance in the College Football Playoff in 2015 and lost to the Oregon Ducks.

Miami Hurricanes

Maybe a little less obvious here, but adding the Hurricanes would make a lot of sense. You get to keep the Miami vs. Florida State rivalry game, Miami is a recruiting hot bed and just adds more talent to the conference, and finally you add a program that was an integral backbone in making the sport what it is today.

Virginia Tech Hokies

On the surface this looks out of left field to the average SEC fan, but this program has rich traditions and a solid history if you look at the “Beamer Ball Era” where the Hokies were led by Frank Beamer. If this program were to join the SEC and grab some momentum in recruiting, these starving fans could make Metallica’s Enter Sandman an SEC staple.
