Over the last six seasons, Alabama football has had arguably the best quarterback play in the nation. From Jalen Hurts back in 2016 to Bryce Young in 2022, the QB position has been the most reliable it has ever been in the Tide’s history.

Success at the most important position in football has become common place for Alabama. The years with Blake Barnett, Blake Sims, and Jake Coker seemed far in the rearview mirror.

But entering spring camp in 2023, the Crimson Tide had one of the most wide open quarterback rooms in the entire nation.

What is Alabama Football’s 2023 Quarterback Depth Chart?

Four different players, all sophomores or younger, set out to compete for perhaps the most prestigious position in college football – starting quarterback for Alabama football.

And it was left up to new offensive coordinator and former Notre Dame OC, Tommy Rees, to figure it all out.

But by springs end, no player separated themselves. So a fifth quarterback was added to the already ultra-competitive competition: Notre Dame QB Tyler Buchner.

Go figure, right?

Now with summer fast approaching, the Alabama football quarterback race, for the first time in a long time, is shaping up to be one of the most interesting in the country.

Let’s take a closer look.
