On Monday night, it was announced that Alabama basketball center Charles Bediako would not return to Tuscaloosa for the 2023-24 season, and would instead remain in the 2023 NBA Draft. With Bediako being the third player that Alabama has lost to the draft so far, let’s take a look at the Crimson Tide’s updated 2023-24 roster outlook. (Roster as of Tuesday, May 23)

Updated Alabama Basketball roster outlook for 2023-24 season

Guard

  • Returning – Rylan Griffen, Davin Cosby Jr.
  • Testing NBA Draft – Mark Sears, Jahvon Quinerly
  • Additions – Latrell Wrightsell Jr., Aaron Estrada

After Bediako, the Crimson Tide’s lone remaining NBA Draft decisions come at the guard position in the duo of Mark Sears and Jahvon Quinerly, both of which were the two highest-scorers in the Alabama backcourt last season. Should those two choose to return to Alabama next season, they would join the duo of Rylan Griffen and Davin Cosby Jr. as the lone returners in the backcourt, with Cosby a name who did not play a year ago.

The Crimson Tide have also added two impact additions to the backcourt via the transfer portal so far in Latrell Wrightsell Jr. and Aaron Estrada. Wrightsell was a First Team All-Big West selection at Cal State Fullerton a year ago, while Estrada comes from Hofstra where he was the back-to-back CAA Player of the Year.

Forward

  • Returning – Nick Pringle
  • Testing NBA Draft – None
  • Additions – Sam Walters, Kris Parker, Mouhamed Dioubate

As for Alabama’s frontcourt, Nick Pringle is set to be the lone returning player from last season with Bediako remaining in the NBA Draft. Alongside Pringle, the Crimson Tide are however set to bring in three freshmen, each of which are rated as four-star prospects in Sam Walters, Kris Parker, and Mouhamed Dioubate.

A talented team with a few questions also still left to be answered, how will Alabama basketball’s 2023-24 roster look a few weeks from now?
