SEC Baseball: Vanderbilt on top in final 2023 power rankings

8. South Carolina Gamecocks

Previous Ranking: 7

Dropping a spot to No. 8 this week is South Carolina, as the Gamecocks were the first team to lose two games in Hoover. The No. 6 seeded Gamecocks would originally open play Tuesday with a 9-0 win over Georgia in the first round, but would go on to fall the next two days against LSU, 10-3, as well as Texas A&M, 5-0, to be eliminated in the third round.

With the Gamecocks now sitting at 39-19 overall for the year, South Carolina will open NCAA Tournament action Friday as the No. 1 seed in the Columbia Regional.

7. Auburn Tigers

Previous Ranking: 8

Rising a spot to No. 7 this week is Auburn, as the No. 5 seeded Tigers would reach the third round this past week in Hoover. After defeating Missouri in the first round by a final score of 10-4, the Tigers would go on to fall to Vanderbilt in the second round, 6-4, as well as Alabama in the third, 7-4.

Auburn now sits at 34-21-1 overall for the year, and will open play Friday in the NCAA Tournament as the No. 1 seed in the Auburn Regional.
