3 biggest 2023 SEC games that could impact the College Football Playoff
Texas A&M vs LSU
LSU dropped this game last year at the end of the season and still found their way into Atlanta after beating Alabama, resulting in holding the head-to-head advantage. Meanwhile, A&M won this game and found themselves at home come bowl season.
Texas A&M had a shaky season this year after bringing in the top recruiting class in 247Sports recruiting rankings history. Even with one of the best defenses in recent history, the Aggies finished 5-7 with a lackluster offense.
Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher hired a new offensive coordinator, Bobby Petrino, to rectify that problem. A&M lost some of the talent off of that top-rated recruiting class, but they still have one of the top 5 rosters in the country per Athlon Sports.
LSU returns 81% of its offensive production, including its starting quarterback Jayden Daniels, and 60% of its defensive production. Texas A&M returns 82% of its offensive production and 77% on defense ranking 7th in total returning production.
LSU gets the benefit of hosting the Aggies in Death Valley in the final game of the season on November 25. The result of this game could very well decide the SEC West in the final season of divisions in the SEC.
