Looking back at the Florida basketball career of Kerry Blackshear Jr.

A former four-star prospect from the 2015 class out of Evans High School in Florida, Blackshear, as mentioned previously, did not originally begin his collegiate career at Florida, but rather in the ACC at Virginia Tech.

Spending four seasons with the Hokies, three of which he played, Blackshear would play a key role at Virginia Tech, starting in 72-of-103 games across that span. Blackshear would also average a combined 11.2 PPG, 6 RPG, and 1.4 APG across those three seasons on 53.4% shooting from the field, and would also receive honors that included 2018-19 Second Team All-ACC, as well as 2019 NCAA Tournament All-Region.

At the conclusion of the 2018-19 season, Blackshear would go on to transfer to Florida, where he was considered one of the SEC’s most impactful transfer additions that offseason. Coming off that transfer, Blackshear would join the Gators with a significant amount of hype as well, as the former Virginia Tech forward would be named to the 2019-20 Preseason Wooden Award watch list.

During the 2019-20 season at Florida, Blackshear would start in all 31 games for the Gators that year, averaging 12.8 PPG, 7.5 RPG (No. 4 in SEC), and 1.6 APG on 79.2% shooting from the free throw line. The lone season in Gainesville for Blackshear, the 2019-20 campaign would also mark one of the best of his collegiate career, one in which the Virginia Tech transfer would be named Second Team All-SEC at seasons end.

At the conclusion of the 2019-20 season, Blackshear would go on to be undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft, and has since played overseas with multiple teams.
