A day that included the start of NBA free agency, here is a look back at some of the top headlines from the SEC on Friday.

Arizona Diamondbacks promote OF Dominic Fletcher

A former second round pick from the 2019 MLB Draft out of Arkansas, the Arizona Diamondbacks promoted outfielder Dominic Fletcher to make his MLB debut Friday. Arizona’s No. 14 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, Fletcher has slashed .325/.417/.497 across 35 games with three HR, 20 RBI, and two SB in Triple-A so far this season.

Portland Trail Blazers waive PF Trendon Watford

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Portland Trail Blazers waived power forward Trendon Watford on Friday. The former LSU forward has started a combined 22-of-110 games across the last two seasons in Portland, averaging a combined 7.5 PPG, 4 RPG, and 1.9 APG on 54.7% shooting from the field.

LSU, Vanderbilt to play in 2024 Astros Foundation College Classic

Announced on Friday, LSU and Vanderbilt will both participate in the 2024 Astros Foundation College Classic from Minute Maid Park in Houston, TX. Joining the Tigers and Commodores in the field are also Houston, Louisiana, Texas, and Texas State.

4-star OT Ethan Calloway commits to LSU

LSU landed the 18th commitment of their 2024 class Friday in Ethan Calloway, who is a four-star offensive tackle. Calloway attends Lake Norman High School in North Carolina.

Alabama DL Jamil Burroughs enters transfer portal

Alabama defensive lineman Jamil Burroughs entered the transfer portal Friday after three seasons with the Crimson Tide. Burroughs, a former four-star prospect in the 2020 class, had a combined 15 tackles, three TFL, and two sacks across 20 career games in Tuscaloosa.

SG Josh Richardson signs with Miami Heat

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, former Tennessee guard Josh Richardson has agreed to a two-year deal with the Miami Heat. An eight-year NBA veteran, Richardson was originally taken by Miami in the second round of the 2015 NBA Draft out of Tennessee, and spent the first four seasons of his career with the Heat, averaging a combined 12.1 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 2.9 APG, and 1.1 SPG.

4-star C John Bol decommits from Florida

Having committed to the Gators earlier this month, John Bol decommitted from Florida on Friday night. Bol is a highly-rated four-star center in the 2024 class out of in-state The Rock School (FL).
