SEC Basketball: Ranking the 2023-24 ACC/SEC Challenge matchups

2023-24 ACC/SEC Challenge

With the matchups having been announced this past Wednesday for the inaugural 2023-24 ACC/SEC Challenge, let’s take a look at, and rank, each, which features a high-profile showdown between two potential Top 15 teams sitting atop the list.

Ranking the 2023-24 ACC/SEC Challenge matchups

14. Vanderbilt vs. Boston College

We begin the list at No. 14 with a matchup that features Boston College traveling to Nashville for a showdown with Vanderbilt. This will be the ninth meeting all-time between the two programs, with the series currently tied 4-4.

13. South Carolina vs. Notre Dame

South Carolina will also remain at home for the 2023-24 ACC/SEC Challenge, as the Gamecocks are set to host the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. A head-to-head series in which Notre Dame owns a 10-5 all-time advantage, the last meeting came back in 1984.

12. Mississippi State at Georgia Tech

The first SEC team set to travel for the ACC/SEC Challenge this upcoming season is Mississippi State, who will face Georgia Tech in Atlanta. Having played 29 times all-time, with Georgia Tech also owning a 16-13 advantage in the series, these two teams have not met since 1975.

11. LSU at Syracuse

LSU is set to travel for this year’s ACC/SEC Challenge to Syracuse, where the Tigers will meet the Orange in an intriguing matchup. This will be the second meeting ever between the two schools, with the other matchup coming back in 1985.
