Charlotte Selects Brandon Miller with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft

Alabama’s Brandon Miller is the prospect that fits best with the roster the Charlotte Hornets have built over the past few seasons. Why?

  1. Shooting – this is the reason you drafted him, Charlotte. Brandon Miller has limitless range and can shoot the lights out of any arena. The 6-foot-9 frame allows him to shoot over smaller defenders and score from all areas of the floor. He doesn’t lack confidence with the ball in his hands.
  2. Rebounding – perhaps the most underrated part of Brandon Miller’s game is his ability to utilize his length on the glass. He averaged over 8 rebounds per game at Alabama, and Charlotte will look for him to continue to contribute on the boards. This part of his game makes him much more versatile than other prospects.
  3. Selfless – Miller does not demand the ball offensively. Instead, he thrives in transition and on catch-and-shoot opportunities. There is plenty of potential for his isolation game, but for now, it isn’t the style of player he is. His selflessness on the basketball court is extremely intriguing for Hornets decision makers who are pairing him next to LaMelo Ball, who likes to have the ball in his hands.
  4. Defense – scouts see the potential for Miller to be able to guard all five positions and be a premier two-way player in the league. For now, this is mostly just potential. His effort and intensity need to rise on this end of the floor to match the skillset that he possesses.

The Charlotte Hornets have put two electrifying basketball players together in the same backcourt. Now, basketball fans across the country wait eagerly to watch the SEC’s 2023 Player of the Year alongside LaMelo Ball.
