Here is a look back at a few of the SEC’s top headlines from both Wednesday and Thursday, which featured Alabama landing a basketball transfer commitment, Georgia adding a four-star offensive tackle to their top-ranked class, and more.
West Virginia transfer F Mohamed Wague commits to Alabama
Alabama basketball has landed a commitment via the transfer portal from West Virginia forward Mohamed Wague. Wague appeared in 28 games off West Virginia’s bench last season to average 4.1 PPG and 3.1 RPG on 74.2% shooting from the field.
4-star OT Daniel Calhoun commits to Georgia
Georgia added a commitment to their top-ranked 2024 class from Daniel Calhoun, who is an in-state prospect out of Walton High School in Georgia. Calhoun is among the top offensive tackles in the 2024 class, rated as a four-star prospect.
F Grant Williams finalizing sign-and-trade with Dallas Mavericks
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, restricted free agent Grant Williams is finalizing a sign-and-trade with the Dallas Mavericks. A two-time SEC Player of the Year at Tennessee during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons, Williams has spent all four seasons of his professional career so far with the Boston Celtics, averaging a combined 6.2 PPG, 3.4 RPG, and 1.2 APG across 288 career games.
Clemson transfer INF Billy Amick commits to Tennessee
Tennessee baseball landed a transfer commitment from Clemson sophomore infielder Billy Amick, who was one of the Tigers top hitters this past season. Amick started in 42-of-46 games this past season, slashing .413/.464/.772 with 13 HR, 63 RBI, and two SB.
Texas A&M RHP Chris Cortez enters transfer portal
Texas A&M sophomore right-handed pitcher Chris Cortez has entered the transfer portal. Cortez made 19 appearances for the Aggies this past season, six of which were starts, in which he held a 3-1 record with a 7.34 ERA and 39:40 K:BB ratio across 41.2 IP, along with opponents owning a .274 AVG against.
