One of the top uncommitted wide receivers in the 2024 class, Amari Jefferson has officially set a commitment date for the near future, while also narrowing down his list to three finalists, each of which come from the SEC. Here is a look at Jefferson overall, as well as those three finalists.

Looking at the three SEC finalists for 4-star WR Amari Jefferson

Beginning with a look at Jefferson, the Class of 2024 prospect is rated as a four-star wide receiver out of Baylor School in Tennessee. One of the top players in the state of Tennessee, Jefferson also ranks as the nation’s No. 209 overall player according to the 247Sports Composite.

A two-sport athlete, Jefferson is also a phenomenal baseball player, and is even committed to one of the three finalists in Tennessee to play collegiately on the diamond. As for his football potential however, it’s clear that Jefferson could very easily be an impact wide receiver at the next level also, and is coming off a season in which he had 72 receptions for 1,370 yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior for one of Tennessee’s top high school teams.

As for Jefferson’s finalists, one is already mentioned previously in Tennessee, with the Volunteers also joined by both Alabama and Georgia.

Beginning with a look at Alabama, the Crimson Tide already have a pair of wide receiver commits in their 2024 class in Perry Thompson and Rico Scott, with the former rated a five-star prospect, along with a five-star quarterback in 2023 Elite 11 MVP Julian Sayin. Should he make the decision to commit to Alabama as well, Jefferson would be the second pass catcher in as many years from the state of Tennessee to make their way to Tuscaloosa, joining four-star tight end Ty Lockwood (Independence, TN) from the 2023 class.

As for Georgia, the Bulldogs also have multiple pass catchers currently committed in their top-ranked 2024 class such as Ny Carr and NiTareon Tuggle, along with a five-star quarterback as well in Dylan Raiola. Should the four-star commit to Georgia as well, it would be the Bulldogs first commitment from the state of Tennessee since offensive lineman Jacob Hood (Hillsboro, TN) in the 2022 class.

Concluding with Tennessee, which Jefferson is also committed to for baseball, the four-star would potentially be the Volunteers second wide receiver commitment for the 2024 cycle in addition to Braylon Staley (Aiken, SC). Potentially adding Jefferson would also mean that three of the top four players in Tennessee for the 2024 cycle according to the 247Sports Composite also committed to the in-state Volunteers.

Set to announce his decision on August 5, will Amari Jefferson choose the Crimson Tide, Bulldogs, or Volunteers?
