Which SEC head football coaches have the most years at their current school?

Hugh Freeze – Auburn Tigers (2023)

Freeze is one-of-two SEC coaches entering the first season at their respective school this season, taking over at Auburn.

Zach Arnett – Mississippi State Bulldogs (2023)

Arnett is the second SEC coach entering his first season at their respective school, taking over at Mississippi State.

Billy Napier – Florida Gators (2022-23)

One of the SEC’s newer coaches, Napier enters his second season at Florida this fall. Napier led the Gators to a 6-7 record a year ago during his first season in Gainesville.

Brian Kelly – LSU Tigers (2022-23)

In addition to Napier previously, Kelly is also entering his second season this fall at LSU. Kelly led the Tigers to a 10-4 record, as well as an SEC West title, last season.

Shane Beamer – South Carolina Gamecocks (2021-23)

One-of-three SEC head coaches entering their third season is Beamer at South Carolina. Across his first two seasons in Columbia, Beamer owns a combined 15-11 record from 2021-22.

Josh Heupel – Tennessee Volunteers (2021-23)

Heupel is also entering his third season at Tennessee this upcoming fall. Across the 2021-22 seasons with the Volunteers, Heupel owns a combined 18-8 record.

Clark Lea – Vanderbilt Commodores (2021-23)

Lea is the final aforementioned coach entering his third year at their respective school, Vanderbilt. Across the 2021-22 seasons, Lea has posted a combined 7-17 record with the Commodores.

Sam Pittman – Arkansas Razorbacks (2020-23)

The first of three SEC coaches who are entering their fourth season at each’s respective school in 2023 is Pittman at Arkansas. Pittman owns a combined 19-17 record with the Razorbacks from 2020-22.

Eli Drinkwitz – Missouri Tigers (2020-23)

The second of those three aforementioned head coaches entering their fourth season in 2023 is Drinkwitz at Missouri. Drinkwitz has posted a combined 17-19 record from 2020-22 as the head coach of the Tigers.

Lane Kiffin – Ole Miss Rebels (2020-23)

Kiffin is the final of those three SEC coaches entering their fourth season in 2023. From the 2020-22 seasons, Kiffin owns a combined 23-13 record at Ole Miss.

Jimbo Fisher – Texas A&M Aggies (2018-23)

Having been the head coach of the Aggies since 2018, Fisher is entering his sixth season at Texas A&M this upcoming fall. From 2018-22, Fisher owns a combined 39-21 record at the helm of the Aggies program.

Kirby Smart – Georgia Bulldogs (2016-23)

The third-longest tenured head coach in the SEC is Smart, who is entering his eighth season at Georgia this fall. Across his seven seasons from 2016-22, Smart owns a combined 81-15 record, while also having won the last two national championships in both 2021 and 2022, along with having never posted a losing record during a season in Athens.

Mark Stoops – Kentucky Wildcats (2013-23)

Ranking No. 2 on the list of longest tenured SEC coaches at their current school is Stoops, who is entering his 11th season this fall at Kentucky. Stoops owns a combined 66-59 record at the helm of the Wildcats program from 2013-22.

Nick Saban – Alabama Crimson Tide (2007-23)

The SEC’s longest tenured coach at their current school is Saban at Alabama, who is entering his 17th season in Tuscaloosa this upcoming fall. Owning a combined 194-27 record from 2007-22, Saban has had double-digit wins in every season at Alabama except for his first in 2007, with his resume headlined by six national championships as head coach of the Crimson Tide – 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, and 2020.
