3 Stars

  • DL Quintavius Johnson (#499 overall player/#49 DL/#56 player in GA)
  • ATH Sacovie White (#601 overall player/#57 ATH/#71 player in GA)
  • TE Colton Heinrich (#612 overall player/#32 TE/#85 player in FL)
  • DL Nnamdi Ogboko (#982 overall player/#101 DL/#31 player in NC)
  • IOL Malachi Toliver (#1,077 overall player/#79 IOL/#122 in GA)
  • P Drew Miller (#1,621 overall player/#1 P/#16 in IA)

Georgia already has six 3-stars committed in the class, which is around what you would you normally see in a completed class after signing day for UGA give or take one or two (although the amount of 3-stars will change as the class rankings update). The group includes two more defensive linemen, another offensive lineman (this time on the interior), a second tight end, a two-way athlete who plays receiver and corner, and then the top punter in the class. It’s also possible that some of this group will be some mixture of non-scholarship players.

Overall Thoughts:

Strength of the Safeties – three of the top six safeties in the class are currently committed to the Dawgs in Jones, Heyward, and Woodyard. Georgia has brought in some elite-level safeties in recent recruiting classes, and 2024 looks like it could be one of the best safety classes any school has ever brought in.

The size of the Offensive Line recruits – The six offensive linemen in the class so far go:

  • 6 ft, 6.5 in., 355 pounds
  • 6 ft, 7 in., 290 pounds
  • 6 ft, 8 in., 340 pounds
  • 6 ft, 5.5 in., 335 pounds
  • 6 ft, 7.5 in., 336 pounds
  • 6 ft, 5.5 in., 315 pounds.

There is clearly a mold from UGA offensive line coach Stacy Searels that he is recruiting, massive human beings.

Currently a two QB class, a rarity for Kirby Smart – Puglisi joins Raiola as the two QB’s currently committed in this class. It will be interesting to see whether Georgia ends up taking both QB’s (Georgia hasn’t taken two HS QB’s at all under Kirby and has only taken multiple QB’s of any kind in the same cycle twice under Kirby (Carson Beck and the portal trio of JT Daniels, Jamie Newman, and Austin Kirksey in 2020. Then D’Wan Mathis out of HS and Stetson Bennett from JuCo in 2019)).

Continued elite tight end recruiting – Reddell continues what has been an incredible string of tight end recruiting from Georgia. Georgia landed Darnell Washington in 2020 (#2 ATH in 2020), Brock Bowers in 2021 (#2 TE), Oscar Delp in 2022 (#1 TE), and the duo of Pearce Spurlin (#2 TE) and Lawson Luckie (#8 TE) in 2023. Georgia landing a top two tight end in four straight classes (five straight if you count Washington) would be crazy to think about. Oh, and by the way. Georgia already has a commitment from the #1 tight end in the 2025 class as well in in-state Elyiss Williams…

A return to top level in-state recruiting – One of the few complaints about the Georgia 2023 recruiting class was how many top players from inside the state of Georgia got away. This class however is a return to Georgia hitting the in-state recruiting like they have in the past. Georgia currently has nine in-state commitments in the class, with six coming from the top 17 players in the state (including the top ranked Raiola). Georgia is also in the running for several other of the top uncommitted players in-state as well…

It could get even better – One of the craziest parts about this class is that it could get even better. Georgia is also in the running for numerous of the top 2024 players remaining. The Dawgs have currently received Crystal Balls for 5-star S KJ Bolden, 4-star LB Kristopher Jones, and 4-star ATH Kamron Mikell. Georgia is also on the visit list for a star-studded group that includes (but is not limited too): 5-star DL Williams Nwaneri, 5-star EDGE Dylan Stewart, 5-star LB Justin Williams, 5-star DL Eddrick Houston, 5-star DL Aydin Breland, 5-star WR Mike Matthews, 5-star WR Ryan Wingo, 4-star WR Amari Jefferson, 4-star LB Chris Cole, and 4-star WR Zion Ragins.

Where the class could stand to improve? – While this is currently the top ranked class in 2024 and is loaded, that does not mean there is not room for it to improve. Besides just adding more very talented players, there are a couple of positions that I believe the class could use another player or two at specifically. One of those positions could be linebacker. While Georgia recruited Linebacker heavily at the top in 2023 (signing three of the top six LB’s in the class), it wouldn’t surprise me if the Dawgs add at least one more linebacker in the class to go alongside the five-star Riddick.

Georgia could also add another corner with another five-star in Robinson the only one currently committed. While Sacovie White could help alleviate some of these concerns if Georgia views him as a corner at the next level and Georgia could be bringing in one of the best safety classes ever, Georgia might be in the hunt for another CB or two. Again, Georgia has recruited corner very well the last few years, but it is a premium position that deserves attention every class. Again, that is not to diminish what Georgia football already has at those two positions, but I just think Georgia could serve to add one or two more players at those positions.

That’s where the Georgia football 2024 class currently stands as of July 17th, 2023. Now we’ll wait and see where this class goes from here.
