Jayden Daniels, Brock Bowers, Kool-Aid McKinstry, Harold Perkins. This conference is loaded with the best talent America has to offer. Those are the popular names, but let’s take a look at some of SEC football’s stars who are sliding under the radar this offseason.

Underrated, but key, SEC Football players to know ahead of 2023 season

Raheim Sanders – RB, Arkansas

In a conference that prides itself on running the football, this is my personal pick for the best running back. Nicknamed “rocket,” the 6’2″ and 227 pound back has all the tools necessary to be successful in this conference, even in the SEC West. He welcomes physicality and, as you hear from the nickname, has the open field speed to leave defenders in the dust. Sanders looks to build on his impressive resume after recording 1,400+ rushing yards and 10 touchdowns in 2022.

Jason Marshall Jr. – CB, Florida

This is the shining star on a Florida defense that has struggled in previous years. Marshall Jr. grew up playing basketball and running track in addition to football, and it shows on the field. His size and physicality paired with his tremendous sports IQ and instincts give Gator fans a player to be really excited about this season. After having 8 PBU’s in 2022 and playing for this team and conference, he will have every chance to cement himself as a potential first round draft pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Squirrel White – WR, Tennessee

This is an electrifying player in a dynamic and fast offense. New QB Joe Milton is going to love utilizing Squirrel’s strengths this season following the departure of three high-level wideouts. White averages 16 yards per catch in his career and this offense suits his speedy style as he thrives in open space. Look for White to post outstanding statistics this season in his heightened role.

Honorable Mentions

Mykel Williams – DE, Georgia

J.J. Weaver – EDGE, Kentucky

J.C. Latham – OT, Alabama
