Georgia, Alabama predicted to finish top in 2023 SEC football preseason media poll

After the conclusion of 2023 SEC Media Days on Thursday, the conference officially released the SEC football preseason media poll for the 2023 season Friday afternoon. Here are the results of that preseason media poll, which included Georgia and Alabama sitting atop the East and West divisions, respectively.

Before taking a dive into some of the voting, let’s take a look at the SEC football preseason media poll itself, which was voted on this past week by media members at 2023 SEC Media Days.

What is the 2023 SEC Football Preseason Media Poll?

SEC East

  • Georgia
  • Tennessee
  • South Carolina
  • Kentucky
  • Florida
  • Missouri
  • Vanderbilt

SEC West

  • Alabama
  • LSU
  • Texas A&M
  • Ole Miss
  • Arkansas
  • Auburn
  • Mississippi State

SEC Champion – Georgia Bulldogs

As for a few takeaways, Georgia would receive the most first-place votes of any SEC program, as the Bulldogs had 265 total to win the SEC East. Alongside the Bulldogs in the SEC East, Tennessee was second with 14, while Vanderbilt received eight, as well as three for South Carolina and one for Kentucky.

In the SEC West, Alabama would receive 165 first-place votes, while LSU finished second at 117. Auburn would finish third with four first-place votes, while Arkansas received three. Both Texas A&M and Mississippi State also received one.

Georgia was also predicted to win the SEC Championship Game, which would be the second year in a row the Bulldogs come out on top in Atlanta. Alabama was second with 62 votes to win the SEC title, followed by LSU in third with 31.
