Who are the Top 5 highest-rated WR recruits in Tennessee football history?
Mike Matthews (Parkview, GA)
As mentioned at the start, Matthews is now the highest-rated wide receiver to ever commit to the Volunteers. Matthews, a five-star wide receiver who attends Parkview High School in Georgia, is rated as the nation’s No. 13 prospect in the 2024 class according to the 247Sports Composite.
Da’Rick Rogers (Calhoun, GA)
Prior to Matthews committing to the Volunteers, that label was previously held by Rogers, who is also a former Georgia prep product out of Calhoun High School. Rated as a five-star prospect from the 2010 class, Rogers would go on to play two seasons in Knoxville from 2010-11, amassing 78 receptions for 1,207 yards and 11 touchdowns, along with making an impact as a kick returner, as well as leading the SEC in receptions during the 2011 season with 67 total (Also ranked No. 2 in conference with both 1,040 receiving yards and nine touchdowns).
Robert Meachem (Booker T. Washington, OK)
Ranking behind Rogers is Meachem, who was a five-star prospect in the 2003 class out of Booker T. Washington High School in Oklahoma. Meachem would see on-field action with the Volunteers from 2004-06 by amassing a combined 125 receptions for 2,140 yards and 17 touchdowns, while also leading the SEC with 1,298 receiving yards during the 2006 season (Also ranked top five in SEC in receptions and receiving touchdowns in 2006).
Justin Hunter (Ocean Lakes, VA)
Hunter was a highly-rated four-star prospect in the Volunteers 2010 recruiting class out of Ocean Lakes High School in Virginia. Hunter would go on to play three seasons at Tennessee from 2010-12 to compile 106 receptions for 1,812 yards and 18 touchdowns, while also ranking No. 4 in the SEC in all three categories during the 2012 season (73 receptions, 1,083 yards, 9 TD).
Josh Malone (Station Camp, TN)

Malone would spend three seasons in Knoxville from 2014-16, amassing 104 receptions for 1,608 yards and 14 touchdowns, as well as ranking No. 3 in receiving yards and touchdowns during the 2016 season (972 yards, 11 TD).
