2. Jayden Daniels – LSU Tigers

2022 Stats: 68.6 CMP%, 2,913 yards, 17:3 TD:INT, 186 carries, 885 yards, 11 TD across 14 games

Coming off a stellar first season in Baton Rouge, one in which he helped lead the Tigers to a 10-4 record and an SEC West title, Daniels sits in the No. 2 spot. One of the more experienced players at the position in the SEC, Daniels holds career marks of a 64.5 CMP% for 8,938 passing yards with a 49:16 TD:INT ratio, while also having rushed for a combined 2,173 yards and 24 touchdowns on 482 attempts, a majority of which came within the Pac-12 at Arizona State prior to transferring to LSU last offseason.

After transferring to LSU, Daniels, as mentioned previously, would post a memorable 2022 season in which he completed 68.6% of passes (No. 2 in SEC – No. 9 in NCAA) for 2,913 yards with a 17:3 TD:INT ratio, while also rushing for 885 yards and 11 touchdowns on 186 attempts. Daniels could very easily surpass some of those totals in 2023 as well, as the senior will be key in LSU’s hunt for a return to Atlanta this season.

1. Will Rogers – Mississippi State Bulldogs

2022 Stats: 68 CMP%, 3,974 yards, 35:8 TD:INT across 13 games

Holding the label of SEC football’s top quarterback as we enter the 2023 season is Rogers, but it is certainly by a slim margin over the names mentioned previously. Entering his fourth season as the starter at Mississippi State, as well as the third as the full-time starting quarterback, Rogers holds combined marks of a 70.7 CMP% for 10,689 passing yards with an 82:24 TD:INT ratio, while also having led college football in completions across each of the last two seasons, as well as ranking Top 10 nation-wide in both passing yards and touchdowns.

As for last season in particular, Rogers started all 13 games for a Mississippi State team that went 9-4, completing 68% of passes for 3,974 yards with a 35:8 TD:INT ratio, leading the SEC in passing completions and touchdowns. Also ranking top five in completion percentage and passing yards as well, Rogers is the likely favorite to lead the conference in those same statistics once again as the starting quarterback under new Mississippi State head coach Zach Arnett, and could also flirt with breaking a few SEC football records this season.
