Redshirt junior’s center Sedrick Van Pran along with guards Tate Ratledge and Xavier Truss will be the three most vital pieces to the success of Georgia football’s offense this season. While Ratledge and Van Pran are each going into their third seasons as the projected starters at their respective positions, this duo looks to propel the Dawgs to their third straight national championship. Truss adds to this as he started fourteen games in 2022.

The Georgia Football O-Line Anchors: Ratledge & Van Pran

Easy to be overlooked because it is not the unit that makes the “flashy plays,” the offensive line is the piece that provides stability and allows the entire offense to function most effectively, or least effectively depending on their performance. Van Pran, Ratledge and Truss have combined for fifty-nine games of starting experience. In those games, the Dawgs are 29-1 in games where Van Pran and Ratledge have both started. Throw in games that Truss has started, and they’re still an impressive 14-0.

Going into the 2023 season, Ratledge and Van Pran have each been named to the Outland Trophy Watch List, while Truss was named to Preseason Media Days All-SEC Second Team.

While having a new starting quarterback is a challenge for any team, having these three on the line will do wonders for the new quarterback’s development – whether that’s Carson Beck, Brock Vandagriff or Gunner Stockton.

In their fifty-nine combined starts, Van Pran, Ratledge and Truss have propelled the Dawgs to 5,946 yards on the ground and 8,215 yards through the air. And barring injuries, look for this experience to pay massive dividends come seasons-end as the grind of the SEC is a task they should be up to. That will do wonders for a new quarterback’s confidence, and the rest of the offense will hopefully fall into place for the Dawgs. This position group for Georgia football should not be overlooked for the Dawgs.
