Looking back at the Alabama football career of Josh Jobe
As mentioned previously, Jobe originally came to Alabama as a highly-rated prospect out of high school, rated as a four-star cornerback out of Cheshire Academy (CT). Jobe was also considered the top player in the state of Connecticut, as well as the No. 109 overall player in the 2018 class according to the 247Sports Composite.
Once at Alabama, Jobe would go on to appear in 14 games during the 2018 season as a freshman, but was limited to a reserve/special teams role. Jobe would not be kept off the stat sheet though, as the former four-star would compile eight tackles with one PD as a freshman.
As a sophomore, Jobe would play a similar role for the Crimson Tide, but would also work his way into the starting lineup as a starter for two games. A breakout campaign for the former four-star, Jobe would compile 28 tackles that season, along with one INT, three PD, and a FR.
Coming off that 2019 season, Jobe would emerge as a full-time starter for the Crimson Tide as a junior, which led to an even bigger breakout 2020 campaign. A season that was arguably Jobe’s best in his Alabama football career, the cornerback would compile 55 tackles, 2.5 TFL, two sacks, and two FF (No. 5 in SEC) for the national champion Crimson Tide, while also leading the SEC with 11 PD (No. 3 in NCAA).
Jobe would go on to return for his senior year in 2021, where he would start for the Crimson Tide at cornerback once again. During that season, which also included missing time due to injury, Jobe would compile 38 tackles, one TFL, two INT’s, and four PD.
Across his four-year Alabama career from 2018-21, Jobe would amass a combined 129 tackles, as well as 3.5 TFL, two sacks, three INT’s, 19 PD, one FR, and two FF. Jobe would also go undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft, but would shortly after sign as a free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles.
During his 2022 rookie season, Jobe would appear in 11 games for the Eagles, where the former Alabama cornerback would make one tackle.
