2. Antwane Wells Jr. – South Carolina Gamecocks

2022 Stats: 68 receptions, 928 yards, 6 TD, 3 carries, 10 yards, 1 TD across 13 games

Coming in at No. 2 is Wells, who is entering his second season at South Carolina coming off a solid year one after having transferred from James Madison prior to last fall. Now a senior, Wells has an impressive career statistical mark combined across the last three seasons, which includes a total of 184 receptions for 2,781 yards and 27 touchdowns, which includes one 1,000-yard season in 2021 at James Madison.

As for last season at South Carolina, Wells would rank No. 2 in the SEC with 68 receptions, which translated to 928 yards (No. 5 in SEC) and six touchdowns, while also rushing for 10 yards and a score on three attempts. Wells is likely set for yet another impressive season in 2023, one where the senior is South Carolina’s top option at the position, and could very easily surpass the 1,000-yard mark.

1. Malik Nabers – LSU Tigers

2022 Stats: 72 receptions, 1,017 yards, 3 TD, 1 carry, 5 yards across 14 games

Topping this list as SEC football’s top wide receiver entering the 2023 season is Nabers, who is the lone returning wideout across the conference who had 1,000+ yards receiving a year ago. A junior, Nabers has certainly impressed across his first two seasons at LSU as well, having amassed 1,434 yards and seven touchdowns on 100 receptions, while also having carried the ball occasionally for 28 yards on five attempts.

As for last season, Nabers would take the next step in year one under head coach Brian Kelly, with the former four-star leading the SEC with 72 receptions, which translated to 1,017 yards (No. 2 in SEC) and three touchdowns. Also making an impact in other areas of the Tigers offense, the junior is likely set for yet another impressive season in Baton Rouge, and is the clear favorite to lead LSU in receiving once again this fall, potentially coming via another 1,000-yard campaign.
