SEC News: Preseason AP Poll Top 25 released, Nwaneri commits to Missouri

Headlined by the 2023 college football preseason AP Poll Top 25 being announced, here are some things to know from across the SEC in recent days.

6 SEC programs included in 2023 college football preseason AP Poll Top 25

There have been six SEC teams ranked in the 2023 college football preseason AP Poll Top 25. Led by two-time defending national champion Georgia at No. 1, those other teams, and rankings, were as follows: Alabama (4), LSU (5), Tennessee (12), Ole Miss (22), and Texas A&M (23).

5-star DL Williams Nwaneri commits to Missouri

Missouri has landed the highest-ranked commitment of their 2024 class in Williams Nwaneri, who is a five-star prospect. Nwaneri is also considered as the nation’s No. 1 overall defensive lineman, and attends in-state Lee’s Summit North (MO).

S Ronnie Harrison signs with Indianapolis Colts

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, free agent safety Ronnie Harrison has signed with the Indianapolis Colts. Harrison, a former third round pick from the 2018 NFL Draft out of Alabama, started 5-of-16 games a year ago with the Cleveland Browns, amassing 24 tackles, 0.5 sacks, and one PD.

3 SEC programs included in Top 5 for 4-star QB Ryan Montgomery

Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina have been included in the top five for Ryan Montgomery, with the trio also joined by Michigan and Penn State of the Big Ten. Montgomery is rated as a four-star quarterback in the 2025 class out of Findlay (OH).

2 SEC programs included in Top 5 for 4-star CB Devon Jordan

Alabama and Texas A&M have been included in the top five for Devon Jordan, as well as Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and TCU. Jordan is a four-star cornerback in the 2024 class out of Union (OK), and is one of the top players in the state of Oklahoma.

4 SEC programs included in Top 6 for 3-star PG Elijah Crawford

Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, and South Carolina have been included in the top six programs for Elijah Crawford, along with both Stanford and UCF. Crawford is rated as a three-star point in the 2024 class out of Legacy Early College (SC).
