Ranking every SEC football team by chance of making the College Football Playoff

6. Ole Miss

Apart from Tennessee, Ole Miss was the surprise team in the SEC looking to make the CFP.

The Rebels started the 2022 season 7-0 before fizzling out and ending the season on a 1-5 skid. At one point they even ranked as high as 7th in the nation.

Jaxson Dart goes into his second year under Lane Kiffin, and after holding off some incoming transfers, he feels like a possible boom (or bust) candidate.

He’ll get his shot against Georgia, Alabama, LSU, and Tulane. If they can go 3-1 or split those games, maybe there is a path. Having to play Georgia while in the SEC West feels like a record killer though.

And that’s why, despite plenty of promise, they are a bit lower on the list than other teams they might be better than.
