14. Vanderbilt

The Commodores have different goals than most of the other SEC football teams on this list.

For the program, it is all about consistent improvement to stay competitive rather than trying to capture the top prize.

During Clark Lea’s first year back in 2021, Vanderbilt had 0 SEC wins and finished 2-10.

In 2022, they started 2-0 for the first time in four years and beat Florida and Kentucky. But they ended up barely missing out on bowl eligibility with a 5-7 finish.

So in 2023, a successful season for Vanderbilt looks like playing a game in December–and that would be enough.

The playoff is not a realistic possibility for them.
