12. Mississippi State

There are just too many unknowns for Mississippi State going into the 2023 season. While Will Rogers returns as the head signal caller, the Bulldogs program will feel different.

New head coach Zach Arnett hired Kevin Barbay to call plays and that could mean a move away from the pass happy offense seen in recent years.

The Bulldogs will still boast a scrappy defensive unit, but no amount of resiliency can force a team into the playoff, especially in the SEC.

And with Ole Miss, LSU, Texas A&M, and Alabama starting the season ranked, the race for the division crown will be tough enough.

Let this be a season where Mississippi State establishes a direction for the future rather than expecting anything playoff related.
