1. Georgia Bulldogs

Having won the last two national championships, Georgia sits at No. 1 in our preseason 2023 SEC football power rankings entering year eight under head coach Kirby Smart.

The Bulldogs are coming off what was likely their best single-season in program history, finishing the year undefeated at 15-0 as national champions, as well as 8-0 in SEC play. As mentioned previously, this was Georgia’s second consecutive year of winning the national championship, as well as the fifth 10+ win season for the Bulldogs since 2017.

Georgia will return a talented roster once again this season, headlined by an offense that features Brock Bowers, Ladd McConkey, Daijun Edwards, Kendall Milton, Sedrick Van Pran, and more. The Bulldogs also return numerous names on defense, which include the likes of Smael Mondon Jr., Jamon Dumas-Johnson, Malaki Starks, Kamari Lassiter, Mykel Williams, and others.

Similar to Alabama, the Bulldogs also had one of the nation’s top recruiting classes last cycle, and could see multiple true freshmen make an impact this season such as Joenel Aguero, Jordan Hall, and AJ Harris, among others. Georgia also has two significant additions via transfer at the wide receiver position that are names to know in Missouri’s Dominic Lovett and Mississippi State’s Rara Thomas.

The Bulldogs will officially begin their quest for a three-peat during Week 1, as Georgia hosts UT Martin.
