7. Texas A&M Aggies

One of the conference’s more intriguing teams entering the season, Texas A&M sits at No. 7 in our 2023 SEC football preseason power rankings entering year No. 6 of the Jimbo Fisher era in College Station.

The Aggies are coming off a down 2022 season, one in which they finished 5-7 overall, as well as 2-6 in SEC play. This was arguably Texas A&M’s worst single-season since the 2008 campaign, a year in which the Aggies went 4-8 overall as a member of the Big 12.

Looking ahead to this season, Texas A&M will return multiple impact players on offense, a group that includes names such as Conner Weigman, Evan Stewart, Moose Muhammad, Ainias Smith, and more. Defensively, the Aggies also return a talented group, one that will be led by Demani Richardson, Chris Russell, and McKinnley Jackson, among others.

The Aggies also have multiple impact newcomers who should play key roles this season, arguably the biggest of which is Rueben Owens at running back. Others such as DJ Hicks and Micah Tease could also make an impact from the Aggies 2023 class, while North Carolina’s Tony Grimes and Florida State’s Sam McCall could be among the top transfer additions to know, in particularly on defense.

Texas A&M will officially open their 2023 season in Week 1, as the Aggies host New Mexico.
