In the game of the week, Can the LSU Tigers avenge their PAT miss loss from last season, or will Jordan Travis start Florida State’s ride to a national title?
TV schedule: September 3rd, 2023 at 7:30 P.M on ABC
Location: Camping World Stadium
LSU is ranked 5th going into this matchup and Florida State is ranked 8th going into this matchup.
LSU comes into this season after getting to 10 wins which included a win over rival Alabama. The win over Alabama was probably the highlight of their season and it pushed their rivals out of the playoff and allowed them to win the SEC West.
The offense is returning most of their starters with 82 percent of their team from last season. The defense of the Tigers is still loaded with Harold Perkins leading the way for the team. They also are returning 64 percent of their defense.
Florida State looks to be one of the best teams in the country this season. The Seminoles have a stacked roster that stars Jared Verse as their monster defensive edge and Jordan Travis as their offensive QB star.
Florida State comes back after a season where they were able to win 10 games and win the Cheez-It Bowl. They were able to return “eight” of those 11 starters on offense this season. Addtionally, the Seminoles are returning “94” percent of their defensive starters on that side of the ball.
While these teams are two of the top teams in the country, LSU has a clear weakness on the defensive side of the ball. Still, LSU has too much talent.
Prediction: LSU: 24, Florida State: 28
This game was so hard to pick. The SEC does not have a lot of attractive matchups this weekend but this could possibly be the best game of the first week of the season. Jordan Travis is a more trustworthy player than Jayden Daniels. When the talent in both rosters is this close, it’s smart to pick the better QB in this case.
In this case, that’s Travis. Additionally, it is easier to trust Florida State’s defense than LSU’s defense. With all of this in mind, Florida State should be able to take a close W against LSU.
