Second Team Defense:

  • DL McKinnley Jackson (Texas A&M) (unanimous)
  • DL Jaheim Oatis (Alabama)
  • DL Tonka Hemingway (South Carolina)
  • DL JJ Weaver (Kentucky)
  • LB Smael Mondon (Georgia)
  • LB Arion Carter (Tennessee) (Tied)
  • LB Jett Johnson (Mississippi State) (Tied)
  • LB Deontae Lawson (Alabama) (Tied)
  • LB Chris Paul Jr. (Arkansas) (Tied)
  • DB Malachi Moore (Alabama)
  • DB Caleb Downs (Alabama)
  • DB Jason Marshall Jr. (Florida)
  • DB Nehemiah Pritchett (Auburn)

Second Team Specialists:

  • K Harrison Mevis (Missouri)
  • P Nik Constantinou (Texas A&M) (Tied)
  • P Jeremy Crawshaw (Florida) (Tied)
  • Returner Kool-Aid McKinstry (Alabama)

Our second team defense group was a little bit cleaner than offense when it came to ties, but still featured four players tying for the final two spots at Second Team linebacker.

The defense also doesn’t see any returning Second Team All-SEC players from a year ago, although McKinstry and Constantinou both also return as second team All-SEC specialists from 2022. McKinstry is also the only person on our list at two different positions.

McKinnley Jackson was a unanimous Second Team choice, appearing on every ballot as a Second Team pick along the D-Line.

Downs, a five-star safety recruit for Alabama and our previously mentioned pick for SEC Freshman of the Year, is the only true freshman to appear on our preseason All-SEC team picks.
