Alabama was able to beat Middle Tennessee, 56-7. What does this victory mean for the QB job going forward? Does Jalen Milroe have the job secured?

In a very quick affair, the Tide were able to destroy the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders. Alabama ended up scoring a TD on their first offensive drive after forcing Middle Tennessee to a three-and-out. They would follow this recipe once again as the Tide went up 14-0.

Alabama would end up punting the ball a couple of times before the end of the first half but they would end up scoring two more touchdowns before the half. Alabama would quickly score a TD on the opening drive of the third quarter. With the score being 35-0, the game was over. Milroe would end up getting pulled after one more possession resulted in a TD.

What can Tide fans take away from this win and Jalen Milroe’s performance?

While it’s tough to tell with this kind of opponent, Jalen Milroe did show up enough to make sure that he will be leading the team out there against Texas. At the end of the day, Alabama will make their bread by being a top defensive team. Milroe will not be a superstar by any means but he could be a guy who gets the ball to Isaiah Bond, Jermaine Burton, and the rest of the supporting cast in an open space for them to make plays.

Milroe also has the ability to scramble outside the pocket and go for positive yards if the pocket collapses. This is key for a Bama team that will not be world-beaters on the offensive end. The Tide can win ball games with their defense leading the way for the squad. The secondary for this team is one of the best in the country if not the best.

Caleb Downs and Kool-Aid McKinstry could be a part of the secondary group that leads the Tide towards another successful season. The Tide don’t need Milroe to be a superstar against Texas or any of their other opponents this season. They just need him to be an average QB due to the fact that the rest of this roster is very talented.

If Milroe is able to have an above-average season, then the Tide could end up looking at another CFP and national championship run. The Tide has a very important test coming up against Texas. This is a game that could end up allowing the Tide to lose to Tennessee down the line and still be in the CFP playoff. It is ideal that the Tide win this one with equally tough opponents coming up in Tennessee and LSU later down the line.
