4. LSU Tigers
Previous Ranking: 3
The final team to drop in this week’s update is LSU, as the Tigers fall a spot from No. 3 to No. 4 as a result of their 45-24 neutral-site loss to Florida State in what was a Top 10 matchup. A game in which the Tigers actually led 17-14 at halftime, LSU would be outscored 31-7 in the second half, with Florida State eventually pulling away in the fourth quarter.
LSU (0-1) will now open their home schedule in Week 2, as the Tigers host Grambling in Baton Rouge.
3. Tennessee Volunteers
Previous Ranking: 4
Taking the Tigers spot entering Week 2 at No. 3 is Tennessee, as the Volunteers rise a spot from No. 4 after their 49-13 neutral-site win over Virginia. An impressive showing on the ground from the Volunteers by rushing for a combined 287 yards, Tennessee would lead 21-3 at halftime, and would go on to put the game away by outscoring the Cavaliers 28-10 in the second half.
Now at 1-0 on the year, Tennessee will open their 2023 home schedule in Week 2 by hosting Austin Peay.
