SEC Quarterback Power Rankings: Jalen Milroe, Conner Weigman move up entering Week 2
8. Conner Weigman (Texas A&M)
Previous ranking: 10
As Texas A&M blew out New Mexico on Saturday, Weigman impressed in both efficiency, and in terms of finding the end-zone. On the day, Weigman went 18-of-23 passing for 236 passing yards and 5 TD’s. While the yardage number doesn’t blow you away, Weigman only played two drives in the 2nd half due to the lopsided score.
Weigman and the Aggies will have a big test this weekend as they take on one of the toughest tests of any SEC team this week as they battle the Miami (FL) Hurricanes on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 Eastern. Weigman vs. Tyler Van Dyke should be an exciting QB battle.
7. Joe Milton III (Tennessee)
Previous ranking: 7
It was a bit of a rough start to the game for the Vols, but they ultimately ended up having no trouble knocking off ACC foe Virginia 49-13. Milton did his job in the game with some flashes of what he’s capable of with his monster arm (although he didn’t need to do too much). He went 21-of-30 passing for 201 passing yards, 33 rushing yards, and 4 total TD’s.
After a week 1 Power Five contest, the Vols will now dip down to the FCS level to take on Austin Peay in Week 2. Tennessee and the Governors will battle at 5:00 pm Eastern in Neyland.
