6. Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss)

Previous ranking: 6

Ole Miss had the most impressive offensive performance of any SEC team in Week 1 as they blew out Mercer 73-7. Dart also lit things up (even while not playing the whole game), as he went 18-of-23 passing for 334 passing yards, 36 rushing yards, and 4 TD’s. Even barring the level of competition, it was an impressive outing for Dart.

Dart and the Rebels will now travel to New Orleans for a highly anticipated non-conference road-trip. Ole Miss will take on Tulane (who won 12 games last year en route to a Cotton Bowl win over USC) in a top 25 battle at 3:30 pm Eastern. This will be a tough test for Dart, and we should learn a lot about him and Ole Miss this week.

5. Spencer Rattler (South Carolina)

Previous ranking: 5

It was an odd Week 1 for Rattler and South Carolina. The Gamecocks fell to North Carolina 31-17. However, Rattler still had a strong day passing, but he was also sacked a whopping nine times which really hindered South Carolina’s offensive output. Rattler was 30-of-39 passing for 353 yards, but failed to find the end-zone as a passer or a rusher.

South Carolina will hope for a bounce-back this week as they take on FCS Furman at 7:30 pm Eastern on Saturday night. The Gamecocks will be heavily favored, and it should be an opportunity for Rattler and the team to get their confidence back.
