Ole Miss goes against the best non-power five team in the country. Will Jaxson Dart be able to rise to the occasion to beat a top Tulane team?
TV Schedule: September 9th, 2023 at 3:30 P.M. on ESPN2
Location: Yulman Stadium
After Ole Miss was able to destroy their tune-up opponent, Mercer, the Rebels are heading off to play the best non-power five school in the country. Jaxson Dart tries to lead this offense against a tough secondary.
Tulane will certainly have its way with Ole Miss’s defense as Michael Pratt comes into this season after being able to throw for over 3,000 passing yards last season. Pratt led the Green Wave to a Cotton Bowl win. The offense has no reason to be bad after last season and scored 31 points in their first game of the season against South Alabama.
Even though Tulane is replacing five of its seven playmakers from last season, the Green Wave should have plenty of time due to them controlling the battle of trenches when it comes to giving enough time for Pratt.
The defense was amazing last season but they are turning over a lot of their linebackers. Still, the secondary for the Green Wave is still very solid. It will be really interesting to see Jaxson Dart face off against Tulane’s secondary. While Ole Miss was playing slow to start against Mercer and was a tune-up opponent, the offense clearly has huge air attack potential.
Prediction: Tulane: 31 Ole Miss: 28
While the Texas-Alabama game is a lot harder to pick, this game should be the second-best SEC matchup this weekend. This game will be close but Tulane is a more complete football team than Ole Miss is.
Ole Miss will put up tons of points as Quinshon Judkins will be able to gain tons of rushing yards in this game. Still, Ole Miss’s defense is not very trustworthy and is the reason that I am picking Tulane to win this game as Tulane’s offense will roar. The Green Wave will easily take care of the Rebels’ defense due to the fact that they aren’t very good.
